Mexico: Day Two

Friday was another early morning. We got up at 6:30 AM to get on a shuttle to Tulum. On the last trip we went to Chichen Itza. Tulum is similar but smaller and built on a coastal cliff.

First up was the two hour ride to Xel Ha, which is a big bay with snorkeling, bike paths and more. We mainly just snorkeled all the way around the huge bay. It wasn’t as dense as our trip to the reef, or the bay in Hawaii, so there wasn’t a ton to see, but it was still a lot of fun. The most notable thing we saw was a stingray that buried itself in the sand, and Adam said he saw a 5-foot-barracuda. Although he tends to exaggerate for effect.

A few hours later we hopped back on the bus to Tulum. We didn’t spend much time there at all, but it’s quite a bit smaller than Chichen Itza, so that’s OK.

After a long ride back, we got some dinner and ended up dancing in the sand. We didn’t really mean to, but the music was too infectious.

Note: Dancing in the sand when it’s 80 degrees and humid is a lot harder than normal dancing.

After that we walked a long way to a closed convenience store, but got some midnight sandwiches that were quite possibly the favorite thing we ate the entire time.
