Mexico: Day Four

Ryan and Adam took off to Chichen Itza, so Lindsay and I had the day to ourselves.
Lindsay and I worked out in our room for a while, and then went to the beach. We didn’t really have a plan, and ended up para-sailing. It was really cool, although I got quite sick right at the end. Any longer and I probably would have hurled 150 feet down into the ocean.

MexicoDay 4.01
we are very high.

MexicoDay 4.02
looking cool in the sky...

MexicoDay 4.03
lindsay next to our tiny looking hotel.

MexicoDay 4.04
that white blip is the boat we're attached to.

We grabbed some food, which made Lindsay not feel too well for a minute. After we digested, we rented jet skis and had a blast cruising around the open ocean. We took turns driving, and Lindsay would drive conservatively, but I would really open that sucker up. Two or three times we must have been completely out of the water.

MexicoDay 4.05
speed demon.

MexicoDay 4.06
out here no one can here you.

MexicoDay 4.07
dude overboard.

MexicoDay 4.08

MexicoDay 4.09
vvvrrrooooommmm!

MexicoDay 4.10
duckface at sea.

MexicoDay 4.11
that mexican flag was massive. it kind of scared me.

MexicoDay 4.12
i guess that's my finger...

Once we showered and cleaned up, we headed to a convenience store to try out some Mexican sweets. We took a bus to a mall, but it was lame-o city, so 10 minutes later we were back on the bus in the other direction.

MexicoDay 4.13
this is actually right outside the hotel. i bet you through it was a jungle.

MexicoDay 4.14
buying sweet treats.

MexicoDay 4.15
yellow.

MexicoDay 4.16
i am too overheated for sweet treats.

MexicoDay 4.17
who's the bigger man? the world may never know.

We headed into Cancun proper, and hit up a grocery/everything store. It was kind of like a Target, I guess, because you could get food, clothes, toys, bikes, tools… except a lot more random and makeshift. They had a sweet-ass bakery, though, so we loaded up on treats.

We got confused about where to catch the bus home, and just started walking in the general direction, figuring we’d hit a stop eventually. But we didn’t. There’s nothing between the last stop in Cancun (which we missed) and the first one in the hotel district. So we ended up walking down a straight of highway for 3-5 miles in the dark.

MexicoDay 4.18
anybody? take us home?

MexicoDay 4.19
this sucks.

Thank goodness it was dark, though, because we were sweating our asses off as it was, and had it been sunny I would have probably passed out. We saw a pack of wild dogs, and amazingly, they all looked like different breeds. When we got back, Ryan and Adam were just returning, and Ryan was SICK. He barely made it at Chichen Itza, but it’s what he came to see so he forced his way through the day.

After getting some food he started to feel a little better, though. We all stretched out on the beach until pretty late.
